About Softer: Softer is meant to be an antithesis to the detrimental and inaccurate way black men are portrayed in contemporary media. Our patriarchal society lends itself to many forms of toxic masculinity. Toxic Masculinity permeates the microcosm of black culture within America because traditionally black boys have to look outside of the home for role models, either on TV or within music. This series uses close-ups and macro shots to gain immediate intimacy with the model.
